It is no where near on par for me with the two other books i have read by the author , A General Theory of Oblivion and A Book of Chameleons. After finishing both of those books I immediately turned back to page one and read them a second time.

I can also see myself re reading those many times in the future. While this book did not have that same magic for me I still enjoyed it.
Guide Nação Crioula (Portuguese Edition)
Since it is mostly one sided and you do not see the responding letters - this book could have gone all wrong and stale, but the author did a fabulous job of keeping me engaged. There are thoughts on slavery, politics, colonization, and adventure - sprinkled in with some humor and a little poetry.
A very unique book. Agualusa has become a favorite author of mine and I plan to read all of his translated works.
